REVIEW ON NELLIE'S SOUTHERN KITCHEN GRAND OPENING!

On June 13, 2016 was the Grand Opening of
Nellie's Southern Kitchen.
Located in downtown Belmont, NC.
Belmont is a town that has a history within
its own and finding out that The Jonas Family
also has a history going back in time its pretty interesting.
Their took a 100 year old building and renovated
into a two floor restaurant and
it's owned and operated by The Jonas Family.
Paul Kevin Jonas Sr., Father of Jonas Brother wanted
to pay tribute to his grandmother who passed in 2011.
He wanted everyone to know how magnificent
Nellie was and how she loved to cook for her family,
After a hard day at work from the Cotton Mill
she will make a homemade meal by scratch.
Yes, Ladies scratch... we all know that is not easy to do!
Nellie did not mind so she makes her Biscuits,
Deep Fried Chicken and
one of her popular dish Chicken Dumpling by scratch.
its Paul Kevin Jonas Sr. favorite

The restaurant is keeping the authentic southern food menu
but with a upscale modern atmosphere.

Here is a link from Open Table
showing the menu and prices
http://www.opentable.com/r/nellies-southern-kitchen-belmont

I had a waiter name Joshua who is charming and outgoing
was very well inform about Nellie's Back ground and the
Menu which made it easy for me to decide what to order.
He brought over to my table a wire napkin cover basket
with buttery biscuit.
(They were delicious)
What I  had for lunch and what I think of the food
Starter
(google image)
The Spring Salad Green
It was delicious with the creamy
goat cheese and spiced pecan
you have a nice crunchy texture
great combo for a salad
adding crispy shallot
took it to another dimension
You wont be disappointed trying this out.
Main
Not So Po Boy
(Shrimps)
You could order shrimp or catfish
The breading that the shrimp was cover
 was a bit spicy
for my taste did gave a feedback
that it will be more enjoyable if
it had a gentle spice kick.
Beside that the shrimps were well cook
and fresh.
Do not shy away from it.
(I took my dessert home since I was so fulled)
Dessert
Carrot Cake
How much I enjoyed this
moist cake on every bite
is a touch of crunch it is
soak in buttermilk glaze
and the fluffy cream cheese frosty is a delight.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
If you love carrot cake this is for you.

My Guest Had
Main
Chicken and Gravy
He described it as
a well done crispy chicken
that is juicy adding the homemade
gravy is a southern staple.
He really enjoyed it also he
got a side of french fried potter
he believe his choice for side
was not complimenting it
he should had got mash taters.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Dessert
(google image)
Nellie's Banana Pudding
This pudding is fresh caramelize bananas top with
toasted meringue great twist on this recipe.
Is like no other banana pudding.
Another southern staple.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Drinks
Plenty of choices
We had
Cokes
We enjoyed a full glass at all time
they make sure the glass was never
empty with refill like this
you know this place is unique
in Belmont, NC.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR THE HEALTHY ENTHUSIAST
This restaurant is not for the healthy enthusiast
nope their is no healthy choices on the menu,
But you could be created and request a salad
with Smoke Bellas or Belmont Garden Tomatoes
with Grilled Chicken now you get to enjoy
Nellie's Southern Kitchen with no guilt.

MY EXPERIENCE
Building Design
 (google Image)

Exterior
As I walked in with my guest we were greeted with warmth,
when you enter looking straight ahead there is a
enormous portrait of Nellie.
Looking at the beautiful portrait you get an idea who she is
and what she loves.

MAIN FLOOR
(my image and google image)
The place was pack for a Grand Opening with
Belmont resident and visitors come to
enjoy a great southern comfort meal.
Its a great change to what this town has to offer.
This restaurant has two floors they took a 100 year old building
and renovated it to represent Jonas Family Heritage.
it has Jonas family touch that was very well thought .
from the decor layout to the menu.
ROOF TOP TERRACE
I sat on the roof top terrace it has a few tables one
in particular caught my eyes very southern chic with
the rocking chairs makes you feel like you are
sitting in a front porch.
It also has a bar area you could enjoy a drink or two.
The only thing it needs more umbrellas or attach awning from the bar
to cover from the strong south sun beside that is
A very relaxing atmosphere.
ME

GOING BACK DOWN
This portrait of owl
unique but to me looks like it
  symbolize close family and strength

  19. I had no idea that they have a family owned restaurant too, that would be interesting to visit. I only know Walhburgers from the Walhberg family because they have chain in Toronto, never tried it before though as I live far away. Have you tried that?
